I was born in colonial Cyprus, under the tutelage of the British government. Cyprus was bought by Disraeli in 1878 from the Ottoman rulers.

His intention was to hand it to Queen Victoria and make her Empress of Cyprus, but India came along so he decided to make her Empress of India. Cyprus was bought for £100,000, in exchange for dealing with the Prussian threat to the Ottoman rulers.
