Historically we have suffered from not having significant numbers of large housebuilders or housing associations that operate within the borough. We have had relatively few.

The council stopped building housing at the end of the ‘80s, beginning of the ‘90s. Since then housing associations have been viewed as the answer, but we have had relatively few housing association schemes built. We’ve always been viewed as a little bit on the periphery of London, not particularly attractive.
