I took up cycle racing after I watched Stephen Roche in the Tour de France at La Plagne on television. I’ve always ridden a bike but I’d never actually raced. You get into it.

When I was at college I was a footballer. I played football a lot, not at a particularly high standard, but the better end of park football, I suppose.
