I’ve always had a strong sense of community, because of my parents. As a young child, my parents always fought for what they believed was right and I took that on as a bit of a mantle.

I was the first young person on a PTA in the borough, because I thought: “How can you have a PTA if the kids aren’t on it?”. So I got the headmaster to agree to that. I was about 13.  

I led a school walk-out when I was about 15, 16, when they were redeveloping the school. It had been burnt down, part of it, and I spent most of my secondary school years in pre-fab. Offsite manufactured, but not very good offsite...
